FROM THE HEADLINES: SPECIAL POST

FROM THE HEADLINES

Out of the myriad headlines and items that make up the daily news cycle, I am admittedly mostly drawn to the political and religious, an odd but potentially dangerous combination especially when harm and even death is threatened over observations and criticisms, even the slightest ones.

I wonder what makes the news in the first place. What didn't get reported? What is reported only one way? Fair and balanced is not something followed that closely, by anyone. But it's not as if everything is made up. People, as the most reported on group, do things and have things happen to them. Most of the coverage establishes that fact but then the "take" is added.

For example, some news outlets see the Gov. Christie bridge story as only the tip of the iceberg while others feel there is a lot of piling on that won't come to anything. It's likely that the truth will come out eventually. That is the good part of the news.
