H. L. Mencken, known as the "Sage of Baltimore", was many things both good and bad. But in it all, he might be best seen as a witty ass who was stuck in his beliefs. For me, he was just another funny guy who spoke his mind about what he thought was right, regardless of who he insulted or the institutions he mocked. In his defense, one could say that stuff always happens and you make of what you will.
