JUST HOW FED UP ARE YOU?

I'm amazed! I'm alarmed! I'm amused! In that musings, madness and mirth kind of way. Are voters that fed up with Washington that someone like Donald Trump could be the next president of the United States? ...Maybe so. I already have a name for the head of Russia that I'll give to Trump to use. How's Poopy Head Putin sound? So many derogatory nicknames to come up with before his first speech at the United Nations. Never before has anyone been this qualified to be the Insulter-in-Chief. One might better ask why Republicans are not voting for the status quo? There's something quite remarkable about how such swallow and vitriolic rhetoric is excused in hopes for a chance to change Washington.
It's not as if there's nothing else to talk about. Our nation is suffering from a lack of attention. Or more figuratively, Congress fiddles after setting the country on fire. Great nations can come to their end, some sooner rather than later. It seems reasonable that we can't keep going in the same ineffective, if not destructive, directions without severe consequences.  In some part, Trump and Sanders represent or at least appeal to those who think we can no longer neglect the realities of our greed, inequality, dominance, and manipulation.
We will never be a Camelot or a Shangri-La. Idealism is rarely agreed upon or achieved. But we can define the boundaries if we want to stop going in endless directions. Perhaps we can't agree on what constitutes going to far but we can at least try instead of waiting until it's too late to change. It takes a mature citizenship to do what is best for all. But as long as the majority is still getting theirs, the status quo is likely the way we will continue to define patriotism.

"Getting theirs" could be understood in many ways. But it usually has to do with money. With the lack of it causing such an increase in national indebtedness, there is even more exposure of the way things are done in all areas of American life and the extent in which the government is involved in most of them. There is every reason for wanting the government to work and to be upset when it doesn't hardly do anything, works for only a few or it particular, works against those who pay the most in taxes.
Most Americans want change of some kind as long as there's no change in the way they are benefited. Perhaps similar to how fun it is to mock others but quite different when you are mocked. If you are going to say there should be cuts and changes then you should be able to accept that it applies to your sacred cows as well. ...It's the price for not being so fed up.
